Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Step In at Loewe

Loewe’s New Era: Farewell Anderson, Hello Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez

Thought the creative director musical chairs was over? Think again. Loewe @loewe, the Spanish luxury house famed for its leather craft and fresh collabs, has just named Jack McCollough @jackmccollough and Lazaro Hernandez @lazro as its new creative leaders. The duo behind Proenza Schouler made the announcement via the brand’s Instagram, calling it an honour to join a brand that speaks to their design philosophy so closely.

A Quick Look at A Loewe and Jonathan Anderson Lowdown

Before we get into the new team, let’s give a nod to the man who made Loewe the cultural powerhouse it is today: Jonathan Anderson @jonathan.anderson. He was at the helm for over a decade, guiding Loewe towards modern-art collaborations, dreamy silhouettes and elevated craftsmanship. Remember the puzzle bag? Yeah, that was Anderson’s doing. Now that he’s left (we covered his departure in our last piece, “A shock departure: Jonathan Anderson leaves Loewe.”), the torch is being passed to fresh minds.

Why McCollough and Hernandez?

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are no strangers to the scene. They burst onto the fashion radar almost 20 years ago with Proenza Schouler and brought a modern, craft-led approach that quickly set them apart. They’re known for their impeccable tailoring, innovative fabrics and downtown cool with uptown polish. According to Loewe’s Instagram, the brand thinks their approach fits perfectly with Loewe’s 179-year heritage of artistry and modern thinking.

The Never-Ending Creative Director Switch

From Alessandro Michele’s exit at Gucci to Demna’s rumoured moves, it feels like we can’t go a month without a big creative announcement. Loewe is just the latest to jump on the bandwagon, keeping the fashion world on its toes. Is it exhausting to keep up with all these announcements? Absolutely. Is it also kind of fun? You bet.

Personal Take

I’m excited to see what McCollough and Hernandez do with Loewe’s leathers, arty-ness and collabs. Their Proenza Schouler credentials show they know how to merge craftsmanship with modernity. And, hey, if history is any guide, I expect some serious runway moments and maybe a new “it” bag or two on the horizon.

So, bye for now, Jonathan Anderson—we’ll be watching. And welcome Jack and Lazaro. Given their fashion savvy, we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Loewe’s 179-year legacy just added a new chapter.
