The exhibition itself focuses on the centrality of the dressed body across the Met’s collection, which gives designers permission to move beyond standard gala glamour.
The guest list also sets the stakes high. Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour are co-chairs; the wider host committee includes major fashion players and performers who know how to use a carpet.
