Black Friday Sales – A Way to Save or a Grand Deception?

We all eagerly await Black Friday sales and Christmas discounts to look great and acquire new outfits at very attractive prices, right? But do you know that a significant portion of the clothes and accessories bought ends up collecting dust in our closets, with some items even going straight into the trash without being worn once, leaving us with an abundance of unnecessary clothing and an empty credit card.

Why do we end up buying piles of useless junk instead of making wise purchases and acquiring cool clothes that we might wear only a few times?

There are three reasons for this:

  1. Ubiquitous advertising convinces us that we absolutely must have certain boots or coats, otherwise we’re considered unfashionable – this is what influencers on social networks, TV, and in magazines tell us.
  2. Clever marketing tactics – deals like “Buy 3 Get 2 Free,” “Buy One, Get One Free,” or “Spend $X and get a discount” tempt us to buy heaps of unnecessary items just to reach the desired discount threshold, but in reality, we often spend more than intended.
  3. A complete misunderstanding of our own style. When we clearly understand which skirt or trousers model perfectly fits our figure and style, we will never buy piles of things that don’t fit or are unsuitable for us, despite the assurances of bloggers that without this or that item we cannot be fashionable

Should we skip Christmas sales altogether and do without updates? Of course not. Just follow these 5 simple rules, and your shopping strategy during sales will be both financially savvy and allow you to create a stylish look.

5 MAIN RULES FOR BEST SHOPPING

  • PLAN YOUR PURCHASES. Make a list of what you need for the next month and stick to it, specifying exact models of coats, shoes, bags.
  • DON’T BE TEMPTED BY DISCOUNTS. Don’t buy something on sale that you wouldn’t purchase at full price.
  • AVOID PROMOTIONS. Never participate in “Buy 3 Get 1 Free” or similar promotions – if you need two items, don’t buy three just for the discount; this usually leads to extra expenses and more clutter in your closet.
  • CHOOSE QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. Buy fewer things but of better quality! Sales are an excellent opportunity to purchase high-quality items at reduced prices, like getting a Karl Lagerfeld coat for the price of Zara or a Gucci bag for the price of Maje.
  • FORGET SEASONAL TRENDS. Stores offer the deepest discounts on quickly outdated items; these are still unprofitable purchases. There’s no point in wearing last season’s shoes even if you got them at half price.

So, be honest with yourself – this time will you shop smart or will you again end up with an empty credit card and a pile of unnecessary junk in your closet?

Enjoy your shopping!
