Ryan Reynolds Revels in Halloween’s Deadpool & Wolverine Takeover: “A Dream Come True”

Ryan Reynolds is having a Halloween to remember as he watched his iconic Deadpool character—and his buddy Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine—take over the streets this year. Sharing his excitement on Instagram Stories on Friday, Nov. 1, the 48-year-old actor posted a throwback snap of him and Jackman on set, alongside a heartfelt caption. “Can’t believe the amount of Deadpool & Wolvie costumes running around last night,” he marveled.

For Reynolds, seeing everyone from tiny trick-or-treaters to fully geared-up “geezer-pools” donning red and black was nothing short of surreal. “It’s like having a dream come true—but a dream you didn’t know you were dreaming of,” he wrote, reminiscing on his journey with the character since first bringing the “meta Marvel” antihero to life in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Since then, Reynolds’ Deadpool has gone from comic-book favorite to pop-culture icon, especially with his latest Marvel Cinematic Universe release proving a smash hit.

It’s clear the actor feels deeply appreciative of the role’s immense fandom, adding, “I’m not cool or aloof about stuff like this. No part of me takes it for granted or feels entitled to it.” With Halloween’s army of Deadpool and Wolverine cosplayers paying tribute to Reynolds’ passion and humor, it’s safe to say the dream just keeps getting better.
