Top-10 Hottest Fashion Trends from Paris and Milan 2025

Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks aren’t just about showcasing new collections—they’re a forecast of future style, setting the key trends that will shape wardrobes worldwide. This year, despite global uncertainties, designers presented a clear vision of where fashion is headed in 2025. Here are the top -10 most striking and influential trends you’ll soon see everywhere.

1. Texture Mixing

Silk or leather? Felt or suede? Knits or lace?  Patchwork has evolved, even luxury giants like  Hermès are now blending materials (felt + leather in their bags), while  Blumarine mixes fur and pony leather, Fendi plays with leather and fur,  Simone Rocha combines lacquer and faux fur,  Acne Studios pairs suede with shearling, and  Gabriela Hearst fuses knitwear with wood accents.

Why is texture mixing booming now? After years of minimalism and sleek surfaces, people crave visual richness and diversity. Mixed textures add depth, volume, and dynamism to any look or space. They reinvent classics (like Hermès bags) with tactile appeal and fresh perspectives.

This trend reflects a desire for  self-expression, sustainability  (upcycling materials), and sensory pleasure. No longer a sign of “scraps” or frugality, texture mixing is now eco-friendly, luxurious, and undeniably beautiful.

2. Knitted Accessories

Knitting, crochet, and felting in accessories are the new black this season. Acne Studios showcased felted items, Prada presented tweed heels, and Louis Vuitton featured boots that look like they were knitted by your grandmother.

But why have designers revisited knitting?

Several factors are at play. There’s the ongoing trend of returning to the 90s and early 2000s, when knitted garments were popular, as well as the rise of “Quiet Luxury” – with its understated color palettes, high-quality materials, muted tones, and timeless designs. Knitted textures, especially complex and textured ones, perfectly fit this aesthetic, adding depth and interest to an outfit without loud logos.

It’s also worth mentioning Cottagecore and Gorpcore – these styles have also had a significant influence. Cottagecore leans towards cozy, “homey” items, while Gorpcore focuses on functional clothing with an emphasis on textures and materials. Knitted pieces are ideally suited for both directions.

Experimentation with textures is another reason why this trend is so relevant in fashion. Designers are constantly seeking new ways to add interest to clothing. Knitted textures like cables, Aran stitches, ribbing, jacquard, allow for the creation of unique and visually appealing items.

And finally, knitted garments often evoke feelings of home warmth, care, and childhood. In times of uncertainty, people crave comfort and security, making knitted pieces particularly appealing.

3. Focus on Textures

In 2025, textures will undoubtedly be leading the way in fashion. Any garment gains new depth thanks to an emphasis on interesting visuals, but animal textures – snake, ostrich, giraffe, zebra, pony – are particularly trending.

After a long period of smooth finishes dominating (like leather and patent leather), people have started seeking something more tactile and visually engaging. Texture adds depth and volume to an outfit, making it less flat.

Textured animal prints create a play of light and shadow, which makes clothing more dynamic and appealing. This is especially noticeable in photos and on social media.

  1. Over-the-Knee Boots – Maxi Style

Over-the-knee boots have been trending for many seasons and show no signs of losing popularity. Designers have declared them almost the shoe of the year for the upcoming fall season. Altuzarra presented high boots with a fur trim, Stella McCartney offered a patent leather version, and Sportmax showcased an accordion-pleated style.

However, the defining feature of over-the-knee boots in 2025 will be their length – ultra-long boots are in vogue, reminiscent of Vetements’ iconic boot-pants.

  1. Lingerie

We’ve seen lingerie not just on the runway but also in street style looks. While previously, it was often subtly incorporated—appearing as a top or simply short shorts—things are different now.

I spotted Alessandra Ambrosio in Paris streetstyle wearing a sweater and Balenciaga leggings, which looks like briefs and stockings. Other influencers and celebrities aren’t lagging behind either—many street style stars have chosen briefs as their evening attire.

We’re seeing evening dresses, everyday tops, and underwear that resembles something you might wear straight from the bedroom, or as if you forgot to put on a skirt.

Furthermore, elements of overtly sexy lingerie have emerged: garter belts are being attached to dresses, jackets, tops, and t-shirts, and traditional shorts and tops are being replaced with everyday undergarments.

The idea that underwear and a garter belt can make a perfectly acceptable evening outfit is also gaining traction.

6. Deconstruction of Classics

Deconstruction is currently trending in fashion – it’s a design approach that dismantles traditional notions of garment structure, seams, proportions, and materials. It challenges conventional construction “rules,” offering alternative solutions that can appear unexpected, avant-garde, or even deliberately “unfinished.” You’ve likely seen double sleeves on a blazer or low-slung pockets on flared Balenciaga jeans.

Classic silhouettes – such as the trench coat, blazer, and pencil skirt – undergo radical transformations in deconstruction. Designers play with proportions, asymmetry, slits, and unusual details, creating unexpected and bold interpretations of familiar items.

How does deconstruction manifest itself in clothing? It can be a slight tilt of the shoulder, an uneven hemline, or asymmetrically placed pockets. Other asymmetrical details include buttons of varying sizes and colors, irregular seam placement, unbalanced draping, and exposed seams that become part of the design – highlighted with contrasting threads, bulky stitching, or even used as decorative elements. Garments may feature detachable sleeves, removable components, or adjustable details.

7. Transparency

Transparency in clothing is experiencing a real boom – what was once considered unacceptable or vulgar can now be a sign of style and self-confidence.

It must be acknowledged that fashion is becoming increasingly revealing; the bodies of models are often treated as artistic objects, just like the dresses themselves. Transparency can range from a subtle haze to complete openness, allowing this trend to be adapted to various tastes and occasions. Beyond overt sexuality, designers offer layering, play with textures, and strategic use of semi-transparent elements to create mystery and depth in an outfit. Some feminists see transparent clothing as a symbol of female strength and confidence, empowering women to control their image and showcase their beauty as they wish.

Transparent clothing also requires a certain boldness and self-assurance. Celebrities and influencers frequently display sheer outfits, stimulating interest in this style among their followers.

And of course, transparency is an ideal trend for social media – when celebritie wears a transparent dress on the red carpet, it inevitably becomes a topic of discussion online, boosting their popularity.

Many stars—for example, Bianca Censori and Julia Fox—have made a name for themselves through nudity and transparency, without being famous singers, models, or actresses.

8. Shoulder Focus:

Shoulders are back in style! From structured silhouettes with broad shoulders to soft draping – designers are emphasizing the shoulder line, creating a strong and confident look. This can be achieved through voluminous sleeves, boat necklines, or decorative elements on the shoulders.

In 2025, the focus on shoulders was noticeable in many collections, but the following brands particularly stood out:Saint Laurent continued the brand’s signature theme of structured shoulders. Jackets and coats with strong, sharply defined shoulders were a key element of the collection.Loewe presented interesting solutions for the shoulder area, using voluminous sleeves and unusual necklines that visually widened the shoulder line.

Miuccia Prada experimented with different shoulder shapes – from slightly raised to wider and more structured. Versace returned to the brand’s signature style, utilizing strong shoulders in their dresses and suits. Givenchy presented a collection focused on silhouette, where broad shoulders played an important role in creating a powerful image.

This season in Milan and Paris, we saw various interpretations of the shoulder-focused trend – from classic structure to more experimental and avant-garde solutions inspired by the rebellious 80s.

9. Faux Fur

Now faux fur took center stage at shows in Milan and Paris – brands were experimenting with textures, volumes, and eco-friendly alternatives to natural fur.

The abundance of faux fur on the runways was immediately noticeable from the first shows, but the growth is even more staggering when viewed numerically — +996% compared to the previous season. This figure was calculated by Tagwalk based solely on the Milan Fashion Week collections.

10. Interest in Fashion History and Vintage

In 2026, as in previous years, many brands will continue to draw on historical references and vintage styles in their collections.

Gucci – a brand already known for its love of history and vintage – continues to develop the “Old Money” aesthetic with nods to the 1970s, but with a more modern and minimalist approach. Vivienne Westwood reinterprets the Romantic era, adapting it for contemporary times. Miu Miu has always played with historical references, often reimagining them in unexpected and playful looks, and their recent campaign featuring Gigi Hadid confirms the popularity of this direction. Bottega Veneta is returning to its roots, drawing inspiration from the brand’s archives and the 1970s.

An ambassador of retro style integrated into modernity – Chanel always respects its heritage; year after year, the brand returns to its iconic jacket and bag, devising diverse interpretations each time.

These are the top 10 most striking trends from the Milan and Paris runways. Which trend will you choose for yourself?
