UJOH SS25: The Art of Controlled Disruption

UJOH’s Spring/Summer 2025 show in Paris was a masterclass in modern tailoring—one that challenged the norms while maintaining an effortless elegance. Designer Mitsuru Nishizaki’s focus on deconstructed tailoring brought to life a quiet but powerful rebellion against tradition. The collection moved with ease, a nod to the fluidity of today’s ever-changing world, but remained impeccably structured, providing a sophisticated alternative to the stiff formality we often associate with tailored wear.

The collection’s hallmark lies in its interplay between subtraction and addition. Subtracted shapes were filled with unexpected volumes, particularly in jackets with slits that allowed for dramatic movement. Each piece, from the cut-off jackets to wide, flowing trousers, carried an architectural precision. A refined disruption occurred in every step the models took, with skirts sporting deep slits that created motion and intrigue.

There was a notable softness in the fabric choices—matte organza and washed satin were cut in ways that allowed the garments to flutter lightly, offering both comfort and an otherworldly grace. A kimono-inspired dress with full, elegant sleeves draped effortlessly, while restructured sleeve-ties added a layer of complexity that felt fresh and innovative.

Collaborating with Reebok, UJOH injected a burst of 90s nostalgia with volume-filled sportswear silhouettes, grounding the otherwise ethereal collection in a cool, urban aesthetic. Colors like lilac, leaf green, and sky blue added brightness and optimism, making the collection feel forward-thinking and hopeful.

This season, UJOH has redefined what tailored elegance can be, proving that precision and playfulness aren’t mutually exclusive. The collection was a celebration of comfort, movement, and modernity—without sacrificing the sharpness that the brand is known for.
