The VETEMENTS Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented during Paris Fashion Week, is a raw and unapologetic reflection of today’s socio-economic climate. Against the backdrop of a semi-abandoned mall, Guram Gvasalia showcased a dystopian vision of fashion’s future. This collection isn’t about polished luxury but rather about repurposing the old to create something new, challenging the notion that luxury must be shiny and pristine.
Each look felt like a commentary on the present-day struggles with overconsumption. Leather-clad models, vintage-inspired cuts, and pieces that seemed to rebel against perfection dominated the runway. One of the most striking moments was seeing top model Gigi Hadid strut down the catwalk in a bold DHL-branded mini dress—playful yet provocative, embodying the collection’s ethos of DIY fashion and repurposed materials. The juxtaposition of a timeless little black dress walking beside deconstructed leather suits or playful, DIY-esque outfits underscored the spirit of ingenuity.
VETEMENTS dared to break away from traditional luxury norms, embracing imperfections and offering a bold new definition of modern elegance. This season, the brand invited us to reconsider the value of what we already own. The message was clear: It’s time to repurpose, rework, and cherish the old instead of constantly chasing the new. In a way, it was about reclaiming fashion’s soul.
